Workers Compensation Specialist
Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Manager, Risk, the Workers Comp Claims Administrator notifies internal stakeholders (HR/Department Leaders/Risk) of all new Workers Comp and other claims.
  • Notifies WC broker/carrier of all new Workers Comp and other claims.
  • Ensures all incidents are appropriately added to the NinthBrain reporting system.
  • Opens new Workers Comp claims on the broker's incident portal.
  • Updates the OSHA log, as necessary.
  • Cross-references OSHA reporting data with NinthBrain to ensure accuracy.
  • Assists in the investigation of the Workers Comp claim, as necessary.
  • Reviews the injured Employee's claim history.
  • Provides medical service providers with Workers Comp claim # and other relevant data.
  • Works with Human Resources to accommodate work restrictions.
  • Owns the relationship with injured employees.
  • Works with Risk to assist Legal with litigation requirements.
  • Ensures timely reporting of data and follow-up of all claims with insurance carriers and regulatory agencies.
  • Communicates Policy and claim information to employees, insurance carriers, and vendors.
  • Provides the Safety Manager with incident trending data to aid in reducing accidents and improve safety.
  • Maintains and further develops a working knowledge of insurance regulations and applicable state/federal statutes.
  • Prepares insurance reports and presentations, as necessary.
  • Assists with various research projects and/or other special projects/tasks, as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
  • 2-3 years hands-on experience managing Workers Comp claims
  • Knowledge of liability insurance, OSHA standards, and regulatory requirements (Occupational Safety and Health Administration)
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, verbal and written communication skills at all levels throughout a multi-tiered, multi-cultured workplace.
  • Ability to train others in a classroom setting or at onsite locations.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple projects concurrently in a deadline-centric environment.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Screening Criteria:

  • MUST HAVE STABLE EMPLOYMENT HISTORY.
  • 2-3 years hands-on experience managing Workers Comp claims
  • Knowledge of liability insurance, OSHA standards, and regulatory requirements (Occupational Safety and Health Administration)
